Hi, I’m Judy Dearmon.

I write stories that gently guide children back to something they already carry within them—their own inner light.
My work is rooted in the belief that children are naturally attuned, aware, and wise. Sometimes they just need a soft reminder… a story, a moment, a feeling… that helps them recognize that quiet guidance inside themselves.
Truthfully, I wrote Sophie’s Inner Light for all of us.
After years of volunteer work with children and adults, I found myself wondering what it would be like if more grownups were able to keep that inner light alive through all the circumstances of life. And how wonderful it would be if that inner light was nurtured and strengthened while we are still in our formative years, giving us the ability to move through life with greater ease and grace.
Sophie’s Inner Light is the culmination of decades of observation, study, and personal experience. Life takes us down many paths, and my hope is that children can move through their experiences with a sense of peace, compassion, and alignment to themselves, and to the inner light.
When we’re attuned to our gentle inner guidance, it supports courage, confidence, love, compassion, wonder, and a grounded sense of who we are.
Sophie’s Inner Light is a story meant to be shared between a child and a grownup—an experience that opens the door to conversation, presence, and a deeper awareness of the body’s natural signals and inner knowing.
Through Dome House Press, I hope to create more than just books. This is a space for meaningful stories, creative expression, and work that nurtures connection—within ourselves and with one another.
I live in East Tennessee, where I spend my time writing, gardening, reading, attending workshops, playing with creative projects, exploring nature, and enjoying moments of quiet reflection.
Thank you for being here and for sharing this journey.
If this work resonates with you, I’d love for you to stay connected as new stories unfold.
